Enjoy this retreat-like class in which you will be introduced to Reiki as a natural healing practice. You will also have the opportunity to meditate and relax. By the end of the day, you will feel energized and rejuvenated.
The Reiki Level I class combines lecture, discussion, and hands-on practice. You will learn how to sense the byosen when administering Reiki treatments and how to use Reiki on yourself. You will also become part of our Reiki community, where the doors are wide open to new practitioners.
What is Reiki?
Reiki is a natural healing method we owe to a Japanese monk, Mikao Usui. The word reiki comes from two Japanese kanji: rei, meaning universal energy, and ki, meaning the energy that animates all living beings (equivalent to the Chinese word qi and the Sanskrit word prana). When rei and ki flow harmoniously together, we experience optimal physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health. Reiki represents our connection with the universe and our restoration to the whole.
Blockages in the flow of energy at any level of our being can manifest as symptoms or disease. In Reiki, the practitioner channels universal energy for themselves or passes it on to another person, with the intention of supporting the healing process. Healing is not solely the disappearance of a symptom, but a complete resolution of the underlying causes of disease — a process that implies personal evolution.
A principle in Reiki, shared with other energy healing modalities, is that vital energy nourishes the organs and cells, and when this energy is blocked or impeded, the body can no longer function optimally.
